Last five years have
brought a paradigm shift in the Indian PVC pipes and fittings industry. One of
the major reasons is the shot up demand for pipes due to an increase in
infrastructure development, advancements in irrigation sector and construction
businesses. With the govt.’s plan of setting up more than 100 smart cities
throughout the country, this trend of rising demand is expected to grow even
higher. While every single plumbing product is witnessing a great demand, PVC
and CPVC pipes will be leading the way, given their versatility and
flexibility. PVC, an advance pipe building material, has been quite popular
since its inception in the 1990s.
Furthermore, with
the new schemes and initiatives for the agricultural sector, it is quite
natural that the demand for irrigation pipes and well-casing pipes will also go
up. Another contributing factor will be the govt.’s keen focus on sanitation
which again will require high-quality CPVC, uPVC and SWR pipes. It will also
boost the plumbing sector as a whole.
Is the supply side
ready?
The organized Indian
PVC pipe and fittings industry seems to be all ready and prepared for the boost
that is just around the corner. Ken Research, a global research and analytics
firm, predicted that market revenues of Indian PVC pipes and fittings industry
will keep registering a double-digit growth up till 2020; the trend that set
off in FY 2010. The competition will be stiff, both on prices as well as quality.
